I can feel some serious ReiMari! And I’m not complaining, haha.
Well, the feeling of sadness during the change between winter and spring is something a lot of people have felt at some point in their lives. And the topic of one-sided love isn’t something only a vast amount of people can relate to, I think.
As I said before (if I remember correctly?) buta songs often, and at the same time very well, touch on the simple, everyday subjects everyone can relate to to some degree. Though those kind of topics are mostyl presented in their original works, it’s not like that kind of themes were missing in their Touhou albums.

Title: 春愁 (Spring Depression)
(Pseudo-family Introduction)

hanabira ga maiochiru kaidan nobori futo furimukeba katamuku hikari
shunshuu ni mi wo makase me wo tojireba hajimari no hi wo utsushidasu
hoho naderu kashinfuu sukoshi tsumetaku atarashii fuku narenai kokoro
me no mae no sono saki wa mienai mama kore kara no hibi arukidasu

Petals flutter down, I climb up the stairs. When I suddenly looked back, I saw the setting sun
I let the spring depression take me over, I close my eyes and reflect on the day it all began
The cold, spring breeze, telling the tidings of flowers brushes my cheek – my heart’s not used to this
Since I cannot see what’s ahead of me, I’ll start walking through the coming days

surimuite kuyashigatte mo mata tsugi no hi ni waraeru you ni
kurikaeshi mata kurikaesu demo chigau kurikaeshi ga mirai ga ima

Though I’m scarred and frustrated, I believe the next day I’m going to smile
I repeat that all over again, but nothing changes – the future is now

itsumo aeru kara itsu demo aeru kara
nakanaka kuchi ni dasenai kotoba ga
tamarisugichatte sa tamarisugichatte sa
kekkyoku imada ni ienu mama

Since we can always meet at any time
Words that just couldn’t leave my mouth
They pile up, they ended up piling up too much
But, in the end, I couldn’t say them…

Hiding from the spring drizzle, we ended up hurdled, shoulder to shoulder. I felt embarrassed and laughed it off
Surely, those ordinary days will someday change into something special

hi ga nobori kinou to chigau kage wo otoshite ugoita mirai ga ima

Shadows cast by setting sun slowly disappear into the night
The sun rises and the shadows it casts are different than yesterday’s – the changing future is today

itsumo aeru kara itsu demo aeru kara
nakanaka kuchi ni dasenai kotoba ga
tamarisugichatte sa tamarisugichatte sa
kekkyoku imada ni ienu mama

Since we can always meet at any time
Words that just couldn’t leave my mouth
They pile up, they ended up piling up too much
But, in the end, I couldn’t say them…

itsumo aeru kara itsu demo aeru kara
sonna yakusoku doko ni mo nai noni
itsuka iou toshite itsuka wa konakute
kekkyoku saigo made iezu ni
owari ga aru nante totsuzen kuru nante
dare mo oshiete kurenakatta kara
zutto ienu mama zutto kodama suru
“issho ni ite kurete arigatou”

Since we can always meet at any time
Though it wasn’t a promise…
I wanted to say it one time, though that time never came
But, in the end, I haven’t said it at all…
The end came so soon
And I couldn’t say it to anyone
Those words will be kept unsaid, just echoing in my head –
“Thank you for staying with me”
