Let’s become the wind.

(Whereabouts of the Wind)
Circle: 凋叶棕 (Diao ye zong)
Album: 随 (Compliance)

sotto chi naderu houki no saki ni
chiisana chiisana kaze ga umarete
chiisana kaze wa hakobarete yuku
kono ookina sekai no doko ka he to

The tiny, tiny wind was born from
Under the broom I’ve been sweeping the ground with
This tiny wind keeps blowing
Somewhere in this big, big world

koboreru kotoba hakobu ashioto
me ni utsuru subete no mono no saki ni
dare ka no imi ga nanika no imi ga
kaze to issho ni hakobarete iku

Overflowing words, moving footsteps.
All of the things reflecting in my eyes:
Someone’s meaning, something’s meaning;
They were all blown together with that wind

dare ka ga mimi wo sumasu toki
dare ka no hoo wo naderu you ni
dare ka no kami wo yurashite wa
dare ka no mune ni fuite iku

Times when someone listens carefully,
As if it brushed someone’s cheek gently.
Swaying someone’s hair
And blowing right through someone’s chest

kaze no oto
dare ka no oto
nande mo nai ichi nichi kara
doko ka kara mata fuitekuru
dare ka ga iru kara fuitekuru

The sound of the wind
Sound of someone.
Even though it’s such an ordinary day
That wind keeps blowing somewhere
It keeps blowing because of that someone

sono yukue
kaze no manima ni
kyou wo ashita he mukatte
fushigi wo kiku sono manima ni
mou doko ka he kiete iku

Its whereabouts
On the mercy of the wind
Heading from today to tomorrow
While I am listening to the miracles,
It disappeared yet again somewhere.

dare ka ga ite nanika ga iru
soushite mata umareru kaze wa doko he

Someone exist. Something exists.
And the wind that was born again, where will it go?

soushite hi ga ochi yoru ni shizunde
yume no naka wo samayou toki de sae

And thus the day sets, so the night can fall.
Even when I’m wandering deep in my dreams
I hear something, I touch something,
Together with the wind blowing from nowhere.

zutto miteita zutto kiiteita
tsudou mono no sono nani hitotsu sae
kikimorasanu you miushinawanu you
kaze ga hakobu sono imi no subete wo

It’s always been watching. It’s always been listening.
And everything it meets
So they wouldn’t fail to hear it, so they wouldn’t lose a sight of it
That wind will carry their meaning as well

dareka ga nani ka wo motteite.
dareka ga nani ka ni ukarete.
dareka ga nani ka wo omotte.
dareka ga nani ka wo miteite.

Someone keeps waiting for something.
Someone’s cheered up by something.
Someone thinks about something.
Someone keeps looking at something.

kaze no oto
nani ka no oto
sugata mo mienai nani ka sae
kono kaze wa anata no kaze
sonna yokan dake fuitekuru

The sound of the wind
Sound of someone.
Even the shape of something I can’t clearly see
“That wind is the wind of you”
That thought became like a blowing wind

sono yukue
hito no manima ni.
kyou mo ashita ga aru nara
umareru hito no manima ni
soshite mata doko ka he to

Its whereabouts
On the mercy of people
If there is a tomorrow after today
Those winds are born among people
And they keep blowing toward somewhere…

haruka todokanu toki he
tooku mienai basho he

Towards a far away time…
Towards a far, unseen place…

dare ka kara mata dare ka he
nanika kara mata nani ka he
subete ga tsunagariyuku you ni

From one person to another,
From one thing to another,
Binding everything together

sono yukue
kaze no manima ni
kyou mo ashita mo koete
soredemo kaku mo manima ni
tashika ni ima fuite iru

Its whereabouts
On the mercy of the wind
Crossing over today and tomorrow.
But really, more than anything
I’m sure that it blows somewhere!

kyou mo hajimaru
kaze yo hakonde. watashi ga mada shiranai nani ka no koto.

Today begins.
Oh, please, may the wind blow! May it carry something I don’t know yet about.

Hello. Thank you for your translation.

I feel something difficult to write about this song.
Anyway I will write other things which is rather easy to do.

    —-
: Times when it strains someone’s ear,

    Lyrics sheet goes 「 .
So I would translate the line to “Times when someone listen carefully”.

    —-
: On the mercy of the miracles it hears

Here the author uses 「間に間に」 not 「まにまに」.
Then I think we should interpret them differently.
I would translate the line to “While I am listening to the miracles,”,

    —-
: And thus the day sets, so the night can fall.
: Even when I’m wandering deep in my dreams
: I can hear something, I feel it moving
: They all come closer, together with the wind heading to an unknown place

I would translate the latter two lines to
    : I hear something, I touch something,
: together with the wind blowing from nowhere.

    I think this stanza means that it goes the same even in dreams;
We experience something meanwhile the winds blow.

    —-
: Then on the mercy of people that are born

Here the author uses 「間に間に」 not 「まにまに」 again.
I would translate the line to “The winds are born among people”.

    —-
: Even though it’s constantly on someone’s mercy
: I’m sure that it it blows somewhere!

This time the author uses 「
I would translate the lines to
    : And yet really, definitely as this;
: it is blowing now for sure

I forgot one thing to comment.

    —-
: Oh, please, may the wind blow! May it carry all the things I don’t know.

The word for word translation of 「わたしがまだ知らない何かのこと」 will be “something I don’t know (about)”.
I prefer “something” rather than “all the things”, as it is humble and I feel it suits the theme of this album “daily life”.
I imagine, Kosuzu find something new that is brought by the wind every day, one by one, not all at the same time nor in large doses.

Thank you for your comments, especially about the use 間に間に and 真に真に since I had no idea how to translate them ahah
