Feuille-Morte

A truly godly song.

(Mythology)
Circle: Feuille-Morte
(Mythology)

katachi naki yami no naka
uchiharau tomoshibi mo naku

Inside the formless darkness
Where no light can be seen

nani wo mite nani wo shitta
etai no shirenu mono no uchi

What do you see? What do you know?
While you’re still a thing without any existence

arui wa yoru ni utau mushi no sazameki

What if the night was filled with buzzing of the bugs?

arui wa ten wo amaneku terasu hoshiboshi

Or what if the heavens were illuminated with lights of thousands of stars?

arui wa haruka kanata kara hibiku kemono no koe

Or, if you could hear the roars of animals in the distance?

katachi naki yami no naka
hito no koe ni imi wo shitta

Inside the formless darkness
I knew the meaning of peoples’ voice

sono koe no minamoto wa
jun naru hito no mune no uchi

And the origins of said voice
Came from the inside of the pure man’s chest

arui wa yoru ni fukisusabu kaze no oto

What if night was filled with sounds of raging wind?

arui wa ten yori uchifuran inabikari

Or what if there were lightnings raining down from the heavens?

arui wa hito no okonai mo toki wo hete itsushika

Or what if maybe people’s manners were to spread across the time?

yami no naka hito wa osore ononoku
ikeru hitobito no obiemadou sugata ni
eta imi no mukui wo nasan
naraba sukui no koe to nari yami wo terasan to

People living in the darkness tremble from terror
Figures of these survivors, puzzled and afraid-
-Meaning of life that you’ve found won’t give you any reward
If just, let’s say, there was a voice of salvation, that would scatter the darkness…

tonaeten kamigami no kotoba
keshite sorera wa abakarezu

Resound, Gods’ words!
And never be disclosed!

kakageten kamigami no kotoba
soshite umareru misorojia

Be declared, Gods’ words!
And thus, mythology was born.

sono koe wo kiite wa hito wa sono rekishi wo ayumu.

And once this voice is heard people shall proceed with their history…

hajimari no kurayami wo terasu.
warera wa doko kara kita no ka

At first, the darkness was illuminated
[The beginning of mythology]
Where did we come from?

mi wo tasuku go-kago wa ima seri.
warera wo mamoru mono

The body will be be protected divinely
[Mythology of protection]
This is what we shall protect

“選らばれし民”の名の下に。
「争いの神話」(我らの敵は誰か)
erabareshi tami no na no moto ni.
warera no teki wa dare ka

Upon the name of the “chosen nation”
[Mythology of conflicts]
Who is our enemy?

sono ayumu michi wa shimesareru.
warera wa doko he iku

I shall show you the path you shall proceed
[Prosperous mythology]
Where are we going?

mukui wa itsuka hatasareru no ka
hito no aru kagiri mayou kagiri ima mo sasayaki tsudzukete wa

Will your reward be reached one day?
As long as humans exist, as long as they wander, I shall continue my whispering!

osore obieta kurayami wo uchiharai ima nao
hito no te ni shika to nigirareta kamigami no kotoba wa kataku na ni
saredo imada kieru koto no nai kurayami wo mitsumete

I shall scatter away the darkness you fear so much! Right now!
The words of gods are firmly held, even in the hands of humans
Nevertheless, gaze at this darkness that will never perish wholly!

ikiru koto
yami wo fumu koto
sono saki wo terasu hikari wo motomete

Living things,
Things which tread on darkness
All of them yearn for the light…

tonaeten kamigami no kotoba
hito no yami ni madowanu you

Resound, Gods’ words!
So people won’t get lost in the darkness

kakageten kamigami no kotoba
ima mo mukui wo hatetasan to

Be declared, Gods’ words!
Now, even the punishment shall end

tonaeten kamigami no kotoba
umare umareru misorojia

Resound, Gods’ words!
Keeping to be born again and again, mythology

kakageten kamigami no kotoba
umare umareru misorojia

Be declared, Gods’ words!
Keeping to be born again and again, mythology

keshite sorera wa abakarezu

And never be disclosed

keshite sorera wa abakarezu

And never be disclosed!

Hello. Thank you for your translation.

I wonder how we can interpret the whole lyrics and the phrase 「
I’d like to know how you do.

I write what I think below. Is there any difference?

    —-
    1. from 「無形 闇の中」 to 「獣の咆哮」
They describe the birth of something, which will become a god.
He(or She) didn’t know anything and was metaphorically in the darkness.
He come to know a couple of things, examples of which are given in the sentence of 「―或いは」.

    —-
    2. from 「無形 闇の中」 to 「人の行いも時を経ていつしか」
They describe his finding the meaning of life from humans’ voices.
He now know much more things and finally understand human deeds.
Some pure human’s voice have influenced him to find the meaning of life.

    —-
    3. from 「闇の中 人は恐れ慄く」 to the last
They describe his helping, leading humans as a god,
to repay them for their having him to know the meaning of life,
    by delivering voices back.
And I suppose 「けしてそらは 暴かれず」 means no one knows who he is
as he cannot be seen or touched.
